About Westside Covenant Church
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." ~ John 3:16
Statement of Belief
The Evangelical Covenant Church believes the Bible is the Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct. We believe in the necessity of the New Birth and a continuing life in fellowship with our Living Lord, Jesus Christ.
We believe that the fellowship of Christians strengthens us for the ministry of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is our task until the return of our Lord.
Our History
Westside Covenant Church is a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC). Founded by Swedish immigrants in 1885, the Evangelical Covenant Church (formerly known as the "Swedish Evangelical Mission Church") emerged from the Protestant Reformation, and the Pietist movement of the 18th and 19th centuries. Over the years the denomination has grown into a multi-ethnic fellowship with over 800 congregations around the world.
Our congregation officially formed in 1904, and the original church building (located on 11th and N Streets in Aurora, NE) was dedicated on October 29, 1905. In the 1960's, a motion was passed to relocate the church. In October of 1969, the new church building on 1st Street was dedicated, and remains our place of worship to this day. In 2020, a motion was passed to change the name of our church from "Aurora Evangelical Covenant Church" to "Westside Covenant Church."
